Melbourne Victory star Jake Brimmer paid tribute to the Club’s fans after Saturday’s FFA Cup Final win over the Central Coast Mariners.
Victory was spurred on by a rapturous home crowd at AAMI Park, where goals from Jason Davidson and Chris Ikonomidis helped it record a 2-1 win.
It marked Victory’s second FFA Cup triumph and first since 2015.
Brimmer, who shared the Mark Viduka Medal with Mariners defender Kye Rowles as players of the match, hailed the Club’s fans.
“Honestly, it’s indescribable. They’re our 12th man,” he told a news conference.
“They bring so much week in, week out, not only tonight, but week in, week out they come to support us and they’re honestly unbelievable.
“Obviously for them to come we have to perform and I feel like we’re only getting better each week.”
Victory’s win also secured a place in the AFC Champions League play-off round, where Vissel Kobe awaits.
That means a meeting with former Barcelona star Andres Iniesta and Brimmer is excited by the challenge.
“What an opportunity, first and foremost,” he said.
“Honestly, with the team we have this year, I think anything’s possible. I think we can win multiple titles. I think we can win everything that we can win, honestly I really do.
“Obviously hearing that name (Iniesta), it’s going to be a tough game, but I’m up for it, I’m ready for it and that’s what we do.”
