In-form Melbourne Victory striker Nick D’Agostino spoke on Tuesday morning ahead of Wednesday’s away clash with the Mariners.
D’Agostino scored two goals in Victory’s impressive 3-1 win over Macarthur last Friday and is determined to keep finding the back of the net.
D’Agostino on facing the Mariners:
“We’ve had a couple of tough battles. They come out and fight for every ball and every opportunity but if we match that, I think our quality will show in the end.”
“They’re really tough to break down and have some quality players in attack, a lot of firepower and dangerous players.”
“We’re up for the fight. It’s hopefully going to be another three points tomorrow.”
On Friday’s 3-1 win over Macarthur:
“It was a top performance with and without the ball. With the ball, we looked so dangerous and created so many chances. Without the ball, we were so solid.”
“We had a lot of games in succession after the FFA Cup Final and it was tough to keep repeating as quickly as that, but we’ve got a tight-knit group who stuck together.”
“We got some good training sessions in (ahead of the Macarthur game) and some well-needed rest and came out firing.”
On his own strong form:
“It’s all about having confidence and self-belief. I have belief in myself that I’m going to score in every game I play…hopefully I can get a couple more tomorrow.”
“I love working with The Boss and all the staff here, this Club is just so professional, it’s the best in the league.”
“I came here to work hard and put myself in starting contention every week and I think I’m slowly doing that now.”
“I’ve had some good performances, but I want to keep the consistency. That’s the main part, just being consistent and scoring week-in-week-out.”
On the upcoming AFC Champions League play-off:
“We can’t wait, we’re looking forward to it. We want to play against the best teams and that’s what we’re going to do.”
“We’re not going there just to be a number, we want to win the game and we want to qualify.”
“We’ll be going there with a really strong squad, keeping everyone mentally and physically fresh, and hopefully get the win.”
