Victory Women midfielder Sophie Hogben has been selected in the Westfield Young Matildas squad to contest the AFC U-19 Women-s Championship qualifying round in Malaysia later this month.
The top two teams of each group and the best third-placed team between the two groups will automatically qualify for the 2009 AFC U-19 Women-s Championship.
“Our squad has a great level of depth and experience between them,” Westfield Young Matildas Head Coach Alen Stajcic said.
“We have some fantastic attacking weapons to use for this important qualification round.
“I feel confident we are in good stead to see our Westfield Young Matildas through to the Championship in 2009.
“All our squad members will also be representing their respective Westfield W-League clubs this season which can only add to the quality of women-s football we see played.”
The Westfield Young Matildas carry plenty of experience into the qualifying round, with the majority of the team having previously been selected at the level and five having represented the Westfield Matildas.
The Westfield Young Matildas will head to Malaysia over the course of the weekend to begin preparations ahead of Australia-s first match against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday, 29 October.
