‘Honoured’ Lowe eyeing Finals glory after Victory Medal win

Rachel Lowe is targeting more success after receiving the Victory Medal (ALW), presented by Turkish Airlines, on Monday night.

The 25-year-old, topping the ‘3-2-1’ voting system, was crowned the 2026 Victory medallist when the Club celebrated the best in class from the past season, with Juan Mata taking the top prize for the A-League Men’s.

Lowe’s season showreel includes memorable goals against traditional interstate rivals, Adelaide United and Sydney FC, as she started in all but one round of the Ninja A-League Women’s competition.

Now her full focus turns to Leg 2 of Victory’s Final Series Semi-Final against Melbourne City on Saturday, May 9, kick-off 2pm AEST, with the Girls in Blue determined to overturn a single-goal first-leg deficit.

Speaking at the Palladium at Crown, Lowe previewed the Melbourne Derby showdown at ctrl:cyber Pitch.

“Thank you to the players and all the staff because it’s been a difficult year, but I think we can bring it back on Saturday.”

Lowe ended Kayla Morrison’s two-year stranglehold on the Victory Medal and paid tribute to everyone behind the scenes who support the A-League Women’s team.

“I’m very honoured to be up here tonight. There’s been a lot of great players in our team; we have a very talented squad, so a lot of girls could have been up here.

“Thank you to Jeff (Hopkins) and JD (John Didulica) for bringing me across to the Club three years ago. I have had a great experience here and great support from the physios Andy (Shaw) and Damo (Kovacevic), to our support staff like Dee (Howard), people work so hard for us, and it really makes this club special.”
