Jason Davidson on Derby win, Socceroos, hair and more.

Melbourne Victory star Jason Davidson spoke to media on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park.

Davidson on the Melbourne Derby win...

“It’s a testament to the Club, the players and everyone involved.”

“A lot of the boys were tired and fatigued (after trips to Perth and Adelaide) but to run and blitz Melbourne City like that, not many teams do that, so it’s a credit to the boys to show what we’re capable of doing and we’ve got to build from that now.”

On facing Brisbane…

“Anyone can beat anyone on their day, so we have to go into the game expecting that they can perform and upset anyone on their day.”

“We have to concentrate on what we have to do with the ball and how we want to play.”

On his season…

“I’m a Melbourne boy, so I’m happy to be home.”

“I’m enjoying the challenge of trying to help bring Melbourne Victory back to where it belongs. We’ve won one trophy and there’s two more to play for…hopefully by the end of the season we can add a few more trophies to the cabinet.”

On Socceroos aspirations…

“It’s just about performing week in, week out to put pressure on Arnie (Graham Arnold) to make the decision. The only thing I can control is performing on the pitch and I feel like as the season has gone on, I’ve gotten stronger and been able to back up and perform.”

“I’ve just got to keep working hard, perform and do my job for Victory.”

On his changing hair colour…

“It started with my kids. My daughter wanted pink hair at the start of the season and my son wanted blue hair. It just became a thing from there.”

“I recently put it on my socials to see what everyone wanted and they picked purple.”

“It’s a bit of fun. I’ve had blonde before but wanted to do something a little different because there’s a couple of other players starting to go blonde in the league.”
