Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the re-signing of Leigh Broxham for his 17th consecutive season with the Club.
The Club legend has signed a one-year extension that will see the league’s second highest appearance holder continue his career at Melbourne Victory.
The 34-year-old played an important role in Victory’s 2021/22 season, playing across the defence and midfield, and will continue to form part of the squad’s leadership team.
Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica said Broxham’s hard work, discipline and respect for the game makes him an invaluable asset to the team and to the Club.
“Leigh has been magnificent since Tony Popovic and his team arrived at the Club and his consistent performance level underscores his importance within the squad,” Didulica said.
“He continues to set the standard for what it means to be a professional. His contribution to our Australia Cup success spoke volumes for his ability to consistently perform at a high level and also inspire his teammates to do the same.
Broxham was also looking forward to the prospect of another season in navy blue saying he was honoured to continue at the Club.
“I’m thrilled to be spending another season with the squad and playing in front of the Melbourne Victory fans at AAMI Park,” Broxham said.
“The Club has been a big part of my life over the past 16 seasons and I want to continue to deliver for everyone involved at Victory.
Broxham is the Club’s third re-signing of the 2022/23 off-season along with Rai Marchan and Will Wilson, as the squad prepares to return to pre-season training at the end of June ahead of its friendly against Manchester United on Friday 15 July at the MCG.
