Melbourne Victory re-signs Matt Spiranovic

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the re-signing of defender Matt Spiranovic for the 2022/23 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 33-year-old will extend his contract for a further season after a successful 2021/22 campaign, that saw him make 14 appearances across all competitions and contribute to Victory’s imposing defensive record last season.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica said Spiranovic’s form and experience on the pitch proved to be important last campaign and will continue to be an asset heading into the new season.

“We’re incredibly pleased to have Matt back for another season at Melbourne Victory,” Didulica said.

“His defensive qualities and his leadership made him an invaluable part of the squad last season and we have no doubt that he’ll only be better with a full season now under his belt.”

Spiranovic was also excited to continue his football journey with Melbourne Victory.

“I’m thrilled to spend another season at the Club with this incredible group of staff and players,” Spiranovic said.

“The Club has been amazing in supporting my journey back to professional football and I’m looking to repay the faith they have in me to continue to deliver on the field.

“We came so close to achieving the ultimate success last season and that spurs me on to help the team and the Club lift trophies next season.”

Spiranovic is the Club’s fourth re-signing of the 2022/23 pre-season, joining Rai Marchan, Will Wilson and Leigh Broxham as well as new signings, George Timotheou and Noah Smith.
