Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the re-signing of midfielder, Rai Marchan.
The 28-year-old has signed on for a further two seasons after an impressive debut campaign in the Isuzu UTE A-League, making 21 league appearances in 2021/22.
Marchan played an important role in Tony Popovic’s side, solidifying his spot alongside Josh Brillante in the holding midfield position.
Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica said Marchan’s form this season was a barometer for the side as he established himself as one of the league’s most impressive additions the past season.
“Rai has performed at an excellent standard during his first season in the A-League and we’re pleased to have him on board for a further two seasons,” Didulica said.
Marchan was also pleased to remain in Australia with Victory as he looks to build upon his first season.
“I have loved my time at Melbourne Victory so far and I can’t wait to spend another season under the Boss and with the boys,” Marchan said.
“This season has seen some challenges with injuries and short turn arounds but the time I’ve spent on the pitch with the team and with the Club has been excellent and I can’t wait for it to continue.
“The fans have been incredible to me this season and I can’t wait to be back at AAMI Park in front of the best fans in the league.”
Marchan is the Club’s first re-signing of the 2022/23 off-season and will report with the team for the first day of pre-season in late June as the Club prepares for its friendly with Manchester United on Friday 15 July.
