Melbourne Victory coach Tony Popovic spoke to media today ahead of Friday night’s away clash with Macarthur.
Victory need a win to keep putting pressure on their Melbourne rivals in the race for the Premier’s Plate with four matches left in their season.
Popovic on team fitness…
“We had a couple of well deserved days off. Everyone looks refreshed at training and excited for the next challenge.”
On Robbie Kruse’s rehab…
“He’s back here now, he spent some time with family and just got back.”
“He’s seen a specialist and everything is positive on that front…it’s day by day with Robbie, we feared the worst and got a positive outcome for him and the Club. Let’s just see what happens at the end of the year.”
On facing Macarthur…
“I thought they played well in their last game against Western United, it could’ve gone either way, that game.”
“Last year, they had a lot of very good results away from home and this year, they’ve improved a lot with their home form.”
“We expect this to be very tough…but we feel we’re performing very well away from home at the moment, we’re getting results and on a good run.”
“We’re confident we can get the three points.”
On the race for the Premier’s Plate…
“We’ve put ourselves in a good position. We need to keep winning to put pressure on the teams above us.”
“We’re 11 games unbeaten at the moment and we want to make that 12 on Friday. The only way we can keep pressure on the top two is to keep getting results.”
