Melbourne Victory has thrown its support behind School Sports Victoria (SSV) to help develop grassroots football at schools around the state.
With the School Sport Australia Australia National Championships approaching, both our Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League stars shared their footballing secrets with up-and-coming players and presented shirts to those who will represent Victoria in ‘Team Vic’ at the tournament.
Both Melbourne Victory and SSV are focused on supporting the explosive growth of the game in Victoria, as participation levels in football continue to climb.
SSV is part of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and is responsible for providing school sport opportunities at school, state and national levels of competition. Over 2,400 government, catholic and independent primary and secondary schools are affiliated with SSV.
Melbourne Victory midfielder Gui Finkler said he wished the players well.
“It was good to be able to speak with the young footballers who will be playing for Team Vic and we hope they have a great tournament,” Finkler said.
“We look forward to hearing about their progress and seeing them play well in the National Championships.”
