Mike Myers bringing Shrek Burlesque to Melbourne Derby

Hollywood icon Mike Myers is set to attend next Saturday’s Melbourne Derby at AAMI Park to promote Shreklesque, a Shrek-themed Burlesque who will perform a special show pre-match.

Victory’s social media team’s use of ‘sexy Shrek’ caused a stir online recently, catching the eye of Shreklesque event organisers ahead of their tour down under in June.

58-year-old Myers is excited to bring the phenomenon to AAMI Park for the Derby.

“I’ve been told the Melbourne Derby is a big event in Australia’s sporting scene so I can’t wait to make the trip down under next week and witness it for myself,” Myers said.

“The Shrek brand is an international icon and one that really connects with Australian humour, so it’s only natural to bring the fun to their shores.

“Victory fans have already been in my messages telling me to make sure I get a photo with Leigh Broxham, so I’ll have to make that happen.”

In the theme of the night, AAMI Park’s food outlets will serve onions and gingerbread men for the match. The venue will also temporarily rename to ‘The Swamp’.

The fixture will be Melbourne Victory’s first home Derby at AAMI Park.
