Kayla Morrison

Becoming the first Melbourne Victory Women’s player to be named Victory Medallist three times, Kayla Morrison is an experienced American-born centre back.

Representing the Kansas Jayhawks at the collegiate level, Morrison was named as the Big 12 Conference Defender of the Year.

Morrison made the journey down to Australia in 2018, signing with NPLW side Bulleen Lions, where she would help the Lions win their first-ever Championship and was recognised with two consecutive NPLW Media Player of the Year awards.

Travelling across the globe to sign with Swedish club Morön BK in 2020, Morrison would score five goals from defence in 24 matches before signing with Victory ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Morrison played every available minute of the season, contributing significantly to the club’s A-League Women’s Championship triumph and receiving the Victory Medal for her efforts.

After suffering an unfortunate ACL tear in the first match of the 2021/22 season, Morrison returned to action the following season as the club’s captain.

After a brief stint with NWSL side Portland Thorns during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Morrison returned to Melbourne ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Morrison has gone on to win two consecutive Victory Medals and earn her third and fourth nominations in the PFA Team of the Season, while becoming an honorary Australian citizen.

Signing a two-year contract extension at Victory in March 2025, Morrison’s leadership from the back saw her win the Players’ Player award at the 2026 Victory Medal.
